Cat Café Program

Cafe Café

General Objective

To promote a humane, alternative and creative solution to the problem of cat overpopulation in public or private areas such as neighborhood parks, schools, hotels, hospitals, jails and others.

Specific Objective

Program Description

The problem of cat overpopulation in developing nations is very common in public places such as hospitals, hotels, schools, jails, military installations. Cats often feel safe taking residence in the vicinity of such facilities, helping themselves to left over food placed in the garbage dumpsters or being fed by cat lovers who feel sorry for them.

The Cat Café is a new and humane way to turn stray cats from a nuisance into an asset, allowing humans and their feline friends to peacefully coexist and even benefit from each other’s presence. Traditionally, when public places experienced a surge in stray cat population, they resorted to poisoning or relocation, but now acknowledge that these methods proved totally ineffective in the long term, not to mention inhumane.

The Cat Café is a hotel for cats: a facility built of simple materials that offers shelter, food, water and sand boxes to spayed/neutered cats.

The benefits of installing a Cat Café are many: the cat colony can be monitored health and population wise, as any new comer can be humanely trapped, spayed/neutered then returned to the Cat Café. The cats that reside in the Cat Café can be kept clean and will help with pest control, especially when it comes to rodents that can become a threat to public health.
