Founder’s Letter
"Show me your love: It is not only humans who need
love and compassion.
Innumerable dogs and cats suffer terribly in the streets.
People throw rocks, the least they suffer is hunger, and
when they are sick, or wounded, no one helps them. If
we allow our dogs or cats to have just one litter, we
will be contributing to this continuing crisis. Please
never abandon your animals.
Please always be sure to sterilize them and give a hand
to the animals who live in the streets."

Dear
Friend:
Thank you for coming to the Mckee Project web site.
I am asking you to help inspire any interested person or country,
through the Mckee Project. You should know that Mckee is a very unglamorous
cause, and Mckee has very little to offer you in return. But when
you join us, you will make a huge difference in the lives of millions
of animals who have no future, and who totally depend on humans to
ensure the suffering stops.
Mckee is working in Costa Rica extensively and has started small programs
in Panama, Nicaragua & Mexico. We receive requests from all over
Latin America on a monthly basis – your contributions will help
us answer these requests with onsite training.
What we need from you is simple, for you to write a check, or donate
via Paypal with your credit card.
We will write to you and let you know what we are doing: carla@mckeemail.org
What animals face: a Cultural Disgrace in Latin America.
Newborn cats and dogs are put in cartons and bags and are routinely
drowned, discarded, or dropped in fields and on roads. Many “lucky”
dogs which survive, are tied up on short ropes most of their lives,
or are cut loose when pregnant, to wander and fend for themselves.
Dead and bloated dogs hit by cars, litter the highways, and no one
notices and it is maybe the only time the dog looks as if it is not
starving. Serious health problems such as mange and internal parasites
which cause fatal internal hemorrhaging are never even an issue, because
veterinarian care is not the norm.
Until recently, health departments, as a national policy, routinely
poison dogs as a method of “population control”. Poisoning
is a slow and violent death and if you see it one time, it will change
you forever. Poisoning is the norm, for many people/neighbors, who
do not like animals. And this is the visible sideIn Costa Rica, there
are no public animal control officers, or places to put animals which
are abandoned. And Costa Rica is one of the best places for companion
animals in Latin America.
Without a humane lessening of companion animal population, and a better
educated human population, companion animals will never lead better
lives.
I am the founder of the Mckee Project, and I invite you to join us.
And if you do, YOU will make a difference. I wish you could see just
one life change; it is so rewarding.
If you have any questions, please always feel free to write to me

man will not find peace".
